xampp doesn't work on Windows 7 (64 bit)

I can't find a bug tracker so I report this here.

I have Windows 7 64 bit on a Virtual box (on a Linux host).

I run xampp (latest version); xampp-control says Apache and MySQL are running, but when I open Internet Explorer and try to connect to "localhost" or "127.0.0.1", it either keeps waiting forever, or it says it can't find the page.

I've tried both running xampp from a pendrive and from c:\xampp. Same result.

I have used it succesfully on older version of Windows

It does work on Win7 x64. Are you trying to run it as a service?

Oh yeah it seems it was just taking forever to respond. A bit weird, but it may be because of the virtual machine: it's become pretty slow in general.

I have never had any problems running it on different Windows 7 machines.

If you do not connect to it from another computer, you could try editing the Apache config and binding it to localhost instead of all adapters. Trying a different browser may also help. Occasionally a few people post here about a similar long loading with white screen that eventually times out but I do not think anyone has pinpointed the cause yet.
