Apache and Mysql service not starting/stopping? [SOLVED]

So when I use the Control Panel 2.5, it refuses to start or stop Apache and Mysql.

When I try to stop Mysql, it'll say "ERROR: MySql service not stopped [-1]". And when I try to stop Apache, it simply says "-1".
When I try to start to either of the two, it'll say a similar error, namely "ERROR: Apache/MySql service not started [-1]".

They start and perfectly fine when I use the Control Panel V3 though, with a slightly annoying UAC pop-up.

I use XAMPP 1.7.7 on Windows 7 64-bit. It's installed on D://xampp, which is a secondary drive, so it shouldn't have write permission problems.

Using the version 3 control panel is now preferred as the hard coded 2.5 version is now obsolete and may be removed in the next release.

BTW, to possibly remove the UAC annoyance try starting XCPv3 by right clicking on the exe file and selecting to run as an administrator.

The latest XCPv3 versions can be found here:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=48932
Download and extract all the files and folders from the archive file into the xampp installation folder and overwrite when asked then use this latest version instead but close any other control panels you may have open.
This latest version has more features and more detailed reports in the log window.

Ah alright, thanks for the info, then I'll stick to version 3.

Good thinking. :)

Keep an eye on the update link I provided from time to time for any later versions as the current developer is quite active and improving the XCPv3 all the time.

Best wishes. :)

I will close this topic now and mark it solved.

Please feel free to start a new topic if you have any more issues with XAMPP.
