XAMPP USB 1.7.3 [SOLVED]

Hi there

Is it possible to install XAMPP on a USB stick and do my work on the usb stick? I work between my computer and my girlfriends computer, and it would save a lot of time and messing about if I could just plug my USB stick in and get on with work.

My XAMPP version is 1.7.3

The operating systems on both my PC and my girlfriends PC is Windows XP Home Edition SP3.

If it is possible to do this, what size USB memory stick would I need please?

Hope you all had a nice Christmas, and I wish you all a great new year.

Kind Regards

Newto :D

Yep - that is why there's a USB/Lite version of XAMPP. Be sure the Lite version has all the pieces you want. You probably will need to rely on manual/start stop because of the services issue. A 'standard version' will also work (in my experience)

You should not run into too many problems as the two OS versions are the same. If you chose to use the latest and greatest (1.7.7) you may need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) Runtime on each machine.

I would say a 4 GB stick will do just fine (I have a standard XAMPP 1.7.3 installed on one).

Good Luck
