cannot access localhost page (Win 7) 1.7.7 [SOLVED]

I cannot access the localhost page. I am a newbie, but I had read all the similar posts.
Can you please help?

John, could you please give us more information about what you have done already and how you are trying to access localhost?

We need to know if Apache and MySQL are running.

What you type in the address bar of your browser.

If there are any clues in the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file.

In other words, as much detail as possible so we can offer you a suitable solution.

I have installed xampp. I try to access through http://localhost at my google chrome (I have tried firefox also)

mysql is running, there is no log for apache, I type http://localhost (I have tried also http://127.0.0.1)

John, your computer may be missing the VC9 runtime file that you can download and install from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... px?id=5582

After rebooting use the newer control panel found in the xampp folder:
xampp-control-3-beta.exe
and use it to start Apache and MySQL.

When they are both running then you should be able to access localhost.

VC9 was installed!
I have used xampp-control-beta and now everything works!!!!!
