Apache dosen't start [SOLVED]

Postby zacol » 14. December 2011 17:58

Hi everyone,

I used Xampp from very long time and I never have problem. Yesterday I install Xampp 1.7.7 and when I want start Apache in Xampp Control Panel I see:
Busy...
Apache started [Port 80]

But Apache dosen't start.

Today I make new installation and i have the same error. I check ports and 80 is available. Also I change it on 8080 but Apache still doesn't work. Then I check logs but it's empty. http://127.0.0.1/ also dosen't work. I try run this from apache_start.bin but nothing work :(

MySQL work corectly. My os is Windows XP with SP3. Help me, please.

First you need to download and install the VC9 runtime file because XAMPP has now been compiled with this version:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... px?id=5582
That should fix your starting of Apache issue.

In the xampp installation folder you will find the version 3 control panel:
xampp-control-3-beta.exe
First Exit the older version and then use this instead of the older 2.5 version as it has better log window details and creates it's own log file in the xampp folder, also you will see many added features.

The latest version of the XCPv3 is linked in my signature.

Good luck. :)

Hi there,

for 4 hours now i'm searching for solution for the same problem. i have installed Microsoft Visual C++ package but apache, as well as mysql, don't start.

I tried via regular control panel, as well as 3beta version. In the first one after pressing start (apache or mysql) it says:

Busy...
Apache started [Port 80]
Busy...
MySql started [Port 3306]

but buttons are still as 'start', they don't change to 'stop', nothing is green and i can't connect to localhost.

When i use 3beta version it says:

15:56:33 [main] Starting check-timer
15:56:41 [apache] Starting apache app...
15:56:44 [mysql] Starting mysql app...
15:56:44 [mysql] Status change detected: running
15:56:44 [mysql] Status change detected: stopped

When i check netstats in cmd it says that OPERA.exe is using port 80. But if i close opera port 80 is taken by System Idle Process. when i try to run apache or mysql from xampp control panel everything is the same.

Please help me solve this! I had xampp running fine on my previous XP installation and now it's one big mess...

edit: there are no error logs in apache logs folder.
edit2: i'm still looking for solution on this forum, i've tried using xampp shell via CP3 and after using "apache_start.bat" command it says:

Diese Eingabeforderung nicht waehrend des Running beenden
Bitte erst bei einem gewollten Shutdown schliessen
Please close this command only for Shutdown
Apache 2 is starting ...
httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 35 of C:/xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf: ServerRoot must be a valid directory

line35 says:
Code: Select all
ServerRoot "/xampp/apache"

I've googled it and i found that i should place there absolute path to the apache folder but it didn't help, xampp shell and apache_start.bat command gives me syntax errors in another two lines.

what to do?!
