Accessing Index.htm (Win 7 Pro) 1.7.7 [SOLVED]

Hi,
I've installed Xampp 1.7.7 on a win7 pro machine in the folder c:/xampp. Services start OK and //localhost brings me to the xampp front page, so xampp is working ok. I can not access the index page (It Works!) by inputting //localhost/index.htm. either from the xampp machine or from other pc's in my home network or from the internet (I have xampp1.5.3 running on another pc and it serves pages fine, changing the port redirect to the new machne just brings me to the xampp page password request).
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Try http://localhost/index.html - there is no index.htm

When ever you get an unexpected server error read the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file.

Best wishes. :)

Thanks, That works!, and thanks for the quick answer.
Now just have to transfer my websites onto the new server (and battle with the new security settings on the way!)
