Timeout when trying to import database backup

Hello,

I have recently switched from an older XAMPP Version to the most recent one 1.7.7.

I did not use the installer version, but the zip archive.

I can start/stop XAMPP just fine - but the problem I am having is, that when I create a new DB and want to import a backup, the browser status says "waiting for localhost" for ~5minutes..
and then I get following error message:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 300 seconds exceeded in D:\xampp\phpMyAdmin\libraries\dbi\mysql.dbi.lib.php on line 175

When I check the database in which I wanted to import, I can see that it actually did import some stuff.. just not all of it..
I did not have this problem with the older version.
Can anyone help me out ?

P.S.: The backup file is 4 MB big, so the limit of 8 MB is not reached.

In the \xampp\mysql\data folder is an error.log file.
See if there are any clues why you are timing out.
You may have an error in your database that MySQL can't get passed.

no, the error logs only states normal stuff like after start and stop

At what point in the import does it stall - you have a part imported database file in the \mysql\data folder, compare it with the sql file you are trying to import and it may reveal at what point it stalls as 5 minutes should be enough time for a 4M database to be imported.

You could try using BigDump.

MySQL Workbench is also another useful GUI tool.
