Tutorial - installing XAMPP on Windows

Since there is lack of professional, HD and subtitled videos about installing XAMPP, I've provided one of my own... hope it helps :-)
Edit: the link has been removed from this post by the poster and will be updated when issues mentioned below are resolved

Perhaps other Moderators or members who have the bandwidth to access video files on YouTube could verify that your video is technically correct to continue to be linked to from this forum.

I hope that you included not only the installer exe file method but also the archive (zip or 7zip) file method. ;)

BTW the current installer will be replaced in the next XAMPP version.

You are aware that the current XAMPP version is 1.7.7 and not the version you specify in your profile and if you have used 1.6* version in your video then you may find that things have changed along the way.

For those who can't access YouTube for what ever reason then I suggest you read the following:
readme_en.txt file in the xampp folder.
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/faq-xampp-windows.html

Thanks...

I've watched the video and don't find any interesting on it compared with other XAMPP installation videos, exept it is in a good resolution.

The video covers a standard XAMPP 1.7.7 Installer version on windows.
it don't covers:
- the differences between the versions
- that there is a new quiet more powerful control panel
- that the setup_xampp.bat file executes or have to be executed manually
- the difficulties of the new requirements (VC9 Runtime)
- any difficulties with blocked ports by processes or windows services

but in the video the whole xampp Administration page will be deleted, which can be confusing for beginners who uses this page much.

i can't really recommend this video for beginners for the named reasons.
But thanks anyway for your effort. Any video will help to raise the popularity of XAMPP.

thank you all for your comments so far, I wasn't aware of many of those issues (never needed to install from ZIP file or had abovementioned problems)... I'll do a bit of research and probably create an updated version

... one more thing that actually confuses me - if a beginner doesn't know how to install XAMPP, I'm not sure that they would use the XAMPP Administration page much, as they don't even know there is such thing. But the point of deleting the Admin page remains valid and I thank you for that comment :-)

You should NOT delete the Welcome (Admin) page as it referenced in the readme_en.txt file and elsewhere and is required to set certain Security settings, again outlined in the readme_en.txt file.

New user are advised to ignore any references to deleting files in any so called tutorial you may stumble upon.
Best to install, at present, using the links I provided above until you (and tutorial producers) know what they are doing.

This forum already fills up with support issues related to incorrectly advised installation methods and so if we can reduce those instances then all the better.

So when you do your research you might like to read through the links I provided in my first post above as should beginners (new users I like to call them as they may not be beginners).
Also use the forum search facility (and Google) for more detailed help with your research.

Another point which is very confusing for me on that video are the porn ads you get on the apachefriends homepage.
I don't have them on any of my computers with different browsers.
Make sure, that you are not the only one you get them because of a trojan or something similar.
