FTP Service on XAMPP version 1.7.7

Postby jqcotten » 13. October 2011 18:56

Computer System:
Processor: Intel Core i7 860@2.80GHz
RAM: 8GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1

ApacheFriends XAMPP version 1.7.7 (relevant components)
+ Apache 2.2.21
+ MySQL 5.5.16 (Community Server)
+ PHP 5.3.8 (VC9 X86 32bit thread safe) + PEAR
+ XAMPP Control Panel Version 2.5 from www.nat32.com
+ (BETA) XAMPP Control Panel Version 3.0.2 by Steffen Strueber (not in the USB & lite version)
see http://community.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=46743
+ XAMPP Security
+ OpenSSL 1.0.0e
+ phpMyAdmin 3.4.5
+ FileZilla FTP Server 0.9.39 (not in the USB & lite version)

Problem:
In Control Panel I have Apache and MySql Running and FileZilla Svc checked.
When I try to start FileZilla I get the prompt "FileZilla FTP must run as service", so
I click Svc and install FTP. However, when I check my Xampp Status it shows FTP Service
"DEACTIVATED".

So how do I "ACTIVATE" FTP Services?

Thanks for your help.

Did you start it after you installed the service?

Did you try connecting to the FileZilla Administration Interface (the Admin button on the Control Panel)?

did you make restart after installation? just to make sure all services are reset and if xampp cpanel didn't show you active ftp server, then please click on win-services in cpanel-3-beta (or type in run > services.msc) and check if ftp service is running? if not, right click and click "start" see if it runs or it will give an error?

if didn't run i suggest you click on netstat in xampp cpanel beta 3 and see what is using port 21?
also i faced once that Microsoft windows firewall does need an exception to allow filezella to work, click add program in your firewall and browse for xampp folder then allow the exe file of filezella to pass through the firewall....... u might need to restart pc after that... also if you have external firewall you will need to make rule for it or disable it (temporary or permanently)

once connected, you must connect to your localhost and start modifying ur groups and users... first you need the service to be in started mode

best luck
