APC installation in xampp 1.7.7

New version of xampp has been launched for windows with a new look control panel. It is working with PHP 5.3.8, but i m facing a problem.
When i am trying to install Synfony 2, it is giving me a message "Install and enable a PHP accelerator like APC (highly recommended)".
I download php_apc.dll, saved in php/ext folder and made entry "extension=php_apc.dll" in file php.ini
After this process when i trying to start my apache, it starts and automatically stopped instantly.
Pls help me to install and enable php_apc.dll in xampp 1.7.7

Where did you find php_apc.dll? I dont think there is valid php_apc.dll for the current PHP 5.3.8 out there anyhwere.

Because php_apd.dll does not match your PHP 5.3.8

As there is no php_apc.dll, you have to build it on yourself. This is a hard job, i dont think you will succeed.

Simply forget about php_apc.dll, Synfony 2 runs as well without APC, it's only a recommendation. Get a faster CPU if you are finding it too slow. Saves you much time (and nervs).

Right....it's only a recommendation. pls tell me if now i proceed without installing APC then can in future i install it (when new version of APC will available)...?????

Where did you download this dll from?

Have you tried eAccelerator included in XAMPP because as yet no viable APC is available and who knows how long it will be (as Nobbie quite rightly pointed out)?

PHP 6 (sometime off) is purported to include APC.

Read this topic by miele as he recommended eAccelerator and said that after testing that it was faster than APC:

[eAccelerator] section in php.ini is the place to look.

I tested eAcellerator with Wordpress, and it made me happy!
