*** XAMPP For Windows 1.7.7 Now Available ***

More good news! :)

XAMPP For Windows 1.7.7 final release files have now been uploaded to sourceforge.

The Lite versions and the main version zip, installer exe and 7zip files have now been uploaded.

Here is the SourceForge 1.7.7 files page

There is no upgrade version, too many changes including the method used to compile the main components.
So remember not to overwrite any previous versions with this 1.7.7 version.

Full component content and versions should be found in the readme_en.txt file in the xampp folder.

:D 8) :D

xampp-win32-1.7.7-VC9-installer.exe 80,9 Mb
xampp-win32-1.7.5-VC9-installer.exe 63,9 Mb
xampp-win32-1.7.4-VC6-installer.exe 63,2 Mb

xampp-win32-1.7.7-VC9.7z 69,1 Mb
xampp-win32-1.7.5-VC9.7z 54,4 Mb
xampp-win32-1.7.4-VC6.7z 53,1 Mb

The growth is size is caused by the inclusion of 5 mysql lib files (xampp\mysql\lib\):
libmysqld.lib 25,0 Kb 09/09/2011 14:45 -a--
mysqlserver.lib 49,9 Mb 09/09/2011 14:45 -a--
libmysql.lib 24,9 Kb 09/09/2011 14:44 -a--
mysqlclient.lib 9,5 Mb 09/09/2011 14:44 -a--
mysqlservices.lib 9,6 Kb 09/09/2011 14:43 -a--

Are they really needed?

All has now been officially announced by the project leader Oswald here:

 More and more it is important to state your XAMPP version and OS now when requesting assistance as there have been many changes to affect the way troubleshooting will be performed. :!:
