i have installed xampp, and have it working nicely at the moment (fingers crossed). what i would like to know is:
is it ok to remove all of the xampp and modperl etc off the localhost server, or does this information have to remain there. thanks for any help you can give me

Hi,

first of all you are asked at install if you want to install mod_perl...just answer no and then its not installed.

And you may do what you like with your XAMPP.
XAMPP is Open Source, which does not disaloow you to change things.

The only thing is when you change something at the code of XAMPP that might be intressting for other or your redistributing XAMPP with some kind of script or simular, then you should still leave a small notice stating this is a Webserver from Apachefriends/XAMPP

So long
