All sites are mess up after upgrade to 1.7.4

Hi All,

I installed XAMPP for Windows about 3-4 years ago. I can't recall what the version was. Last week, my hard disk was crashed that I had to reinstall all the softwares including XAMPP. Since 1.7.4 is the one currently available, then I installed this version.

Then I copied all the web site directories under "htdocs" from the old hard disk to the new hard disk. I also copied all the databases under "mysql/data". But when I accesssed all the sites are inaccessible, a lot of errors.

Do have to copy anything else? Can I just simply copy the whole "xampp" directory from the old hard disk to the new hard disk even though the versions are different?

Thank you in advance for any help. I desperately need help since now all my web sites are gone! I don't know what to do!

Ann

to "get things going" this 'might work':

Can I just simply copy the whole "xampp" directory from the old hard disk to the new hard disk even though the versions are different?

DO NOT MIX VERSIONS

just copy the whole nine yards, and get rid of any new install on the new drive

when copied over, run 'setup-xampp.bat' that is in the root of the XAMPP folder.

HOPEFULLY - you will learn the word 'backup'. Get a flash drive and periodically backup/copy

Good Luck

If the old installation was 3-4 years ago, than maybe you should try an older XAMPP version, because i don't think that all of your scripts are php5.3 compatible.
I recommend you to use XAMPP 1.7.1 instead. You can get it @ sourceforge

You should check the php.ini configuration
