XAMPP for Windows XP and Joomla, Wordpress, Mediawiki

Postby darius » 31. August 2011 23:10

Hello,

I am trying hard to test a number of free php scripts for website development.
Tried script app stacks for windows by Bitnami, but get errors on installation.

Installed XAMPP (php, apache, mysql) and GUI console is not working properly, starting apache, mysql
no way to use it to start mysql.

Installed wordpress, configured database hookup and wordpress started to work (don't know how and why)

Started with Joomla and Mediawiki

and more problems
phpmyadmin worked fine since apache requested access to IP assigned by my 3G provider (3G modem)

I am very grateful for your package, since Triad2php never worked for me (mysql run problems).

Any chance to install corrected console to start stop apache, mysql, services or just give up ?

Where sits "httpd-xampp.conf" ?

Darius

Access forbidden!

New XAMPP security concept:

Access to the requested directory is only available from the local network.

This setting can be configured in the file "httpd-xampp.conf".

One answer:

\xammp\apache\conf\extra\httpd-xampp.conf

Good Luck

Do you get an error when you try to launch xammp-control.exe?

There is a new Control Panel-
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=46743

DL here
http://arloh.de/xampp/xampp_control3.0.2.zip

Also - look in the root of XAMPP - batch files to start/stop most things

Good Luck

Thanks my friend.

One problem, one question, all-in-one.

--
got it
Since apache tried to access my dynamic assigned IP (3g modem network) I allowed it in Zonealarm.
Now I need to know what entry comes by default below, since it worked for me
and need to know why apache is trying to connect to dynamic assigned IP, since 127.0.0.0 (local host is all I need to test
Joomla, Wordpress, Mediawiki and more php scripts) on a local PC running Windows XP.

Should I remove "Deny from all" ?

Please have a look at your file for default setting.

Deny from all

ErrorDocument 403 /error/HTTP_XAMPP_FORBIDDEN.html.var
</LocationMatch>

Finally installed Mediawiki (2 weeks, 10+ trials, 1 month looking for mediawiki in web hosting in the cloud , without any succes).

Thanks for xampp, supporting my efforts to test 50+ free php scripts used to build highly professional web sites on the Internet.

http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ is on as user
is off as admin, generating error

hashed # deny all
in configuration file

Can finally test Mediawiki, Wordpress on my local PC running XP windows, Joomla comes soon.

Good times, happy times ;)
