Both Apache & XAMPP installed in same machine

Postby ippo » 09. August 2011 07:12

Hi
I have accidentally installed both XAMPP and Apache server in the same machine.
Now I want to uninstall Apache Server & keep only XAMPP. I have Windows XP OS & my xampp version is "Apache Friends XAMPP (Basis Package) version 1.7.3"
The stand-alone Apache Server I installed from the Apache installer version "httpd-2.2.15-win32-x86-openssl-0.9.8m-r2.msi".
If i remove the stand-alone Apache will that destabilize my system or will it make the XAMPP non-functional?
How to uninstall Apache or is it possible at all?

Un-installing standalone Apache should not impact XAMPP. XAMPP doesn't use the Windows registry (and that is what is affected by 'un-installing' in Windows).

I would turn off Apache as a service temporarily in the XAMPP Control Panel while you un-install.

How to uninstall Apache

Usually Windows Control Panel, Add/Remove programs

Good Luck
