Apache Friends Support Forum

Ok I install xampp all is working fine. But the root password seems not to be working at all. I go to http://127.0.0.1/xampp/ I am prompted for the root user/pass. I type in my root password and it fails to allow me into that little xampp panel thing. Which actually brings me to another question do I even need that little would be control panel thing? does it actually serve an purpose or can I dump it cause its cluttering up the way I would like to keep my server
