Domains linked to xampp websites (Nameservers)

Hey, I'm quite a beginner at networking, but I know enough about xampp to script and host a website in php and configure it. I've been trying to link my domain i purchased to my home xampp server which i run my website on 24/7. I'm wondering is there a way of doing this without using web redirection, so the domain looks like it's on the website with no web redirection frames? I heard nameservers does this. But I don't know how to host a nameserver. Any help would be appreciated! :) Thanks.

EDIT: Elsewhere I got recommended OpenDNS or using the Windows Server 2008's DNS server role. But will these do what I want them to do? Any other recommendations or tutorials or help appreciated!

You need what are called Zone services - its the Nameserver part

1. most registrars provide them for a nominal additional fee - usually about $10/yr/ Then you can point their nameserverwe at YOUR IP...

2. There's a free service for up to two domains (they are called zones in the world of DNS) I use it, been working for along time.
www.zoneedit.com

3. The purpose of DynDNS and NoIP is to fix things for those who DON'T have registered domains. They both create subdomains (hostnames) on domains they own.

I don't know who your registrar is but the first thing to look for is Nameservers in the Domain Control panel, if you don't see it inquire from their help desk or phone support - that is the easiest route.

Extremely appreciate the reply!

My domain hoster is
http://www.uk-cheapest.co.uk (their support is horrible)

But I am able to change the nameservers easily. I just need to know how to host my own nameservers. I looked into http://www.zonedit.com and it's absolutely brilliant! I worked it out and made my domain work with it, absolutely amazing free site. Thanks for it. Just for general knowledge though, is there a way to host my own?

Yeeessss...

http://www.isc.org/software/bind

http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/

I' just very unsure why anyone would want to do that, other than a large organization. If you break your nameserver(s) -- you will need at least two -- your domains are hosed. Its a lot like running your own newsservers (NNTP) -- WHY???

Anyway, you have the right answer now.

Good Luck
