Win 7 64-bit?

I just happened to notice, in the "read me" for the Windows version, under system requirements:
+ Only 32 Bit (NOT for 64 bit systems)

But since the systems requirements does not mention Windows 7 at all, I'm wondering if it's just not updated or if XAMPP doesn't work with Windows 7 or if it only works with the 32-bit version of Windows 7?

(Btw, I tried to search this question but couldn't figure out the logic of the search. I entered these search terms:
+windows + 7 + 64-bit

but the search engine only searched on 'windows' and 'bit', returned 8200 some returns which don't focus on my question at all. Why would the search engine ignore '7' and '64-'? How can one do a proper search if it's going to ignore key parts of the search string?)

Well it seems to be working OK in Win 7 64-bit (except for the phpmyadmin problem I present in my post in the thread with a similar problem).

Hopefully there are no gotchas waiting down the road. It would be nice if I can get reassurance about this from someone who knows.

Many thousands of people have had success with installing XAMPP on 32 and 64bit Windows and Windows 7.

Install to the root of any drive for example C:\ so you end up with C:\xampp

You should be logged in with Admin rights for best results.

If you check your process monitor you will see that xampp and it's components will be running in 32 bit mode.

Because of two things: stopword lists and rules (see MySQL) and syntax:

Search found 832 matches: +"Windows 7"

Return to advanced search

Good Luck
