Hello guys,

Yesterday I installed XAMPP on my D drive, I run the program get this error:

XAMPP Component Status Check failure [3]
Current directory: D:\Program Files (x86)\xampp
Run this program only from you XAMPP root directory

A friend of mine said this wasn't anything bad, but still I hate it.. maybe you guys know simple solution to get rid of it?

Well... After that I click start Apache but when I do, nothing running...

I just reinstalled it on my C drive where it does work :S

Very strange, I just want to simply make it work on my D drive because that's where I install all the stuff :p

What's bothering XAMPP that it doesn't work on my D?

Your friend is right. Thats a bug in the XAMPP control panel error reporting.

Download and use the new XAMPP Control Panel v3.0.2

Two tipps:
- Don't install XAMPP in a directory with whitespaces or special chars in it.
- take a look into your \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file. Your Apache logs his starting attempts there and that can give you much more information about whats going on.

Ok, thanks for the control panel fix!

XAMPP is installed here : D:\Program Files (x86)\xampp\apache\logs

It has whitespaces... so that prevents it from working really?

And about the log file, there is none :(

XAMPP does have some problems working in that Program Files (x86) folder on C:\, so i don't see why that problem shouldn't be on D:\ too.

What should I do to get it working?

If the log would show up it would give us more information but that doesn't work aswell D:

I will not rest until it works properly on my D :p

Install XAMPP directly in the root directory of your HDD, so that you have a D:\xampp\ folder.
If your OS is Windows 7, Vista or Windows Server 2008, be sure that you deactivate your User Account Control (UAC) or install and start XAMPP in administrator mode.

Hey there Altrea

I'm pretty sure you are right - and - BINGO I know why

http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linuxunix- ... ory-names/

the right and left paraentheses '( )" each have to be escaped in a Unix filesystem command. I'm betting there is no trap for that.

EDITED.

@ WilliL

I agree and so have edited this post and reported it to steini.

See here for the rubbish that this poster aims to add a spam signature to:

You may wish to add your weight behind these bad posts by reporting them to steini.

Seems to be a new technique, but looking way back in these forums it was effectively carried out before and overlooked by any forum spam catchers we may have had in the past.
