XAMPP api

Postby gaurav_ch » 06. June 2011 06:07

Hi,

I want to use XAMPP for starting my web hosting business and I want to give the users a control panel similar to cpanel. I want to know how can I create a control panel and link it to XAMPP so that the users can configure their email, domains and databases using my control panel.

Can this be done?

Thanks,

Gaurav

XAMPP is not made for production environments, especially not for hosting services where your users build on the security of your environment!
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

It's like porn for programmers 8)

Hey Altrea,

Thanks for reply. So, do you know anyother server which has api access and I can use that for my web hosting business?

Hello Gaurav

Altrea's signature contains a link to another more qualified server for a production environment that may suit your needs, also with some configuration skills you could install a standalone Apache/PHP/MySQL for Windows server suite, then learn how to secure (harden) any server you choose to use for your hosting business.

I am not one for trying to reinvent the wheel so I have posted on this forum in the past a link to an already created free Hosting Control Panel that I have tested in the past and which did come close to resembling the features of the very expensive commercial WHM/cPanel offering:
http://www.rapidcp.org/
It has a support forum and seems it is still being developed with version 3 now in beta, worth a trial using any server you may choose to use and would remove the need for an API which may limit the servers available to choose from.

Also RapidCP is an off shoot of this Hosting Control Panel which I have not recently tested but did use an earlier version:
http://www.zpanelcp.com/

I believe both the above panels have development teams and so, if you wish, you may be able to contribute in some way to their development or you may simply make a donation instead, much like donations are acceptable and most welcome from XAMPP users.

Good luck and best wishes.

Wow, Thanks Sharley for your input. I am certainly going to try rapid CP.

Thanks again.
