How safe is it to download XAMPP?

Please im new to this forum and i want to download XAMPP on my laptop. Is it safe to do so?

Several million people have already downloaded XAMPP so one would assume it is now safe to download.

What do you mean when you say safe to download or do you mean is it safe to run a web server on your laptop.

On the XAMPP home page you will find a link to the readme file which outlines what to use XAMPP for and the FAQ linked on the same page will also provide some insight.

Yes I actually meant to ask if it's safe to run a web server on my laptop? This is because I've had some bad experiences downloading some "useful" software in the past.
Please am I supposed to google the XAMPP website or is there a direct link from this forum?

It is safe if you don't let your Webserver listening to inbound requests from the internet.
Otherwise XAMPP can be very insecure, but that depends on your own knowledge with Apache, MySQL and all that stuff.
