No Response from XAMPP Server

No Response from XAMPP Server

Hi all,

I have started the server, but then when i goto broswer and type http://localhost:80.. I don't get any response, the response just times out.
I tried changing the port.. but it did not work. kindly help. ..

So you see a green running indication for both Apache and MySQL in the XAMPP Control Panel?

What version of XAMPP and which installation method did you download?

What Windows version?

Which browser and did you try in an alternate browser?

Does the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file have any clues?

yes both my mysql and apache are running..

here are my version details..

ApacheFriends XAMPP (basic package) version 1.6.6a ######
Apache 2.2.8
MySQL 5.0.51a

OS - Windows 7
Broswers - google chrome, Mozilla Firefox

I found no clues in my error.log, here is the snippet from the log

Either change the Listen port back to 80 in the httpd.conf file or use http://localhost:85 in your browser.

If you return the httpd.conf file back to it's default then all you need type is http://localhost/ in your browser.

1.6.6a is an very old version of XAMPP that you should update to the latest version as I can't replicate your issue as I don't have such an old XAMPP version.

Try and follow these instructions to uninstall your current version and then reinstall a new version:
