Multiple Apache installations: XAMPP starting wrong one

Postby SusannaK » 12. May 2011 20:12

I successfully installed XAMPP last week. I put my sites in the htdocs folder, installed ModX, played around with it, and had no problems.

Today, I tried to start up Apache via the XAMPP control panel, and discovered that it's starting up an old installation of Apache in my Program Files directory instead of the copy of Apache in the xampp directory. I don't know why or how it switched, and I'd like to know how to switch it back.

The XAMPP Control Panel needs to reside in the xampp folder of which ever installation you want to start from - create a shortcut for each XAMPP installation's XCP giving each a unique name so you know which you want to start up and, as you know, only one XAMPP instance can be run at any one time.
