Well, I am not exactly sure. I think it is a bug in XAMPP 1.8.1 Lite (I get the same crash/error on the lite version) and not the Control Panel.
I would have to take a closer look at it to try to find the differences.
In the meantime, XAMPP 1.8.1 Full works just fine. If there is not a reason you can not use that one, you should use the full version.

Hello,
The easy solution would be to go into Skype configuration and uncheck the option to use port 80/443.
If you would rather now, how/where are you changing these ports?
Does it work without Skype running and not changing ports?

I just released a new XAMPP CP update. Version 3.2.1 is primarily a bugfix release. There is a new XAMPP Beta in progress and I would like as many people as possible to test this CP version to ensure it is stable before I pass it on to the XAMPP Devs for inclusion in the next version.
See the release thread linked in my signature for release notes and download link.

Hi,
I've been using XAMMP for some years now for educational purposes (school).
Our students don't have write rights on c:\ nor on c:\xampp. I made some changes in the config-Files of mysql and apache so that they put their data and logs in the home-directory of the students (h:\xamp).
A few days ago I wanted to update XAMPP to the latest version, but the Control Panel doesn't work any more. Even though I edited the control-panel.ini, it still wants to have write access to that file. The log-file also needs permissions on c:\xampp.
It would be great if the contol-panel
- doesn't crash when not having write access rights on control-panel.ini and
- has an entry in the ini-file for setting a path for the log-file.
Can you help me with that, perhaps with a 'nightly build'?
Thanks
Pyroner

Hello,
Currently, there are no new updates.
I moved to a new computer a while back and never got around to fully migrating my development environment yet.
Once I have more free time, I will try to chip away at my CP TODO list again.

3.2.1 is excellent, though I only use it to monitor the services on my portable version of XAMPP.
All that is missing for me is to be able to simply specify additional services to monitor, if not start and stop - at the moment, I'm using Netstat to monitor and batch files to bring up and take down the various modules.
XAMPP: xampp-portable-win32-1.8.2-2-VC9
MongoDB: mongodb-win32-i386-2.4.8 (32-bit version for development and portability)

So first, the Control Panel wouldn't let me use apache because it said that port 440 was in use by Skype. Fortunately, it was telling the truth, and I fixed it by quitting Skype. However, now it won't let me click the Service boxes to have the Control Panel start up every time I turn on my computer. How do I set it to autostart those programs so my developing environment is always present?

Configure Skype (and all other programs) correctly not to use port 80 and not to use port 443. These Ports are reserved for webservers and if you want to run a webserver, you have to pay attention to this.

I cannot find a definite place and ask this, some 300+ matches for "Server was NOT (un)installed".
I installed, to
localhost, the latest version of XAMPP and the lastest PHPBB board. I wanted to install Automod and I assumed MODx was the Bitnami thing - big error.
Anyway, after not finding Automod installed to my Board as I expected I uninstalled all software so related.
After some of these efforts I found that XAMPP Control Panel worked for me but I could no longer get FileZilla Server to work as a Windows Service which was possible before.
Because I thought Automod and MODx were the same (but under different installation) I approached them.
My advisor suggested:
About the FileZilla service, maybe while uninstalling you didn't remove the FileZilla service. You can do it manually, openning a terminal as administrator, and executing the following command:
sc delete FileZillaServer
After that, open XAMPP Control Panel as Administrator, and install the FileZilla service there (just pressing the button on the left side).
Where do I start?
How do I open a terminal? I tried the command under Windows Command Prompt only to be told that the service was not installed.
Any suggestions would be helpful, and an advice if this is moved to a more appropriate board slot.

The event noted above still persists and as yet I have had no advice as to a possible solution.
