Hello,
I have a small box with XP installed on. I installed xampp and after that Wordpress. However, I am unable to access Wordpress through my LAN network.

I would appreciate some help.

What are you typing in the browser of the LAN computer to access the WP pages?

localhost and localhost\wordpress typing the IP of he PC and 127.0.0.1 don't work as well.

localhost/127.0.0.1 are only applicable for accessing XAMPP from the PC that XAMPP is installed on so those addresses will never work from the LAN.

What error message are you getting as it often helps when troubleshooting an issue.

Have you allowed access through your firewall or any other security system you may have in place?

I take it you can access http://localhost and http://localhost/wordpress on the machine XAMPP is installed on?

This web page may give some insight into LAN issues:

For the first one - I can access XAMPP through LAN if I edit the security settings of "httpd-xampp.conf" by changing the IP address to an address of a computer on the network (but lets don't get deep in that).

On that server computer, when I typed in localhost/wordpress I get to wordpress so I assumed that this was the actual address of the page. Otherwise I don't get anything (a blank page). Checking the security of XAMPP tells me that everything is "UNSECURE" (the firewall is turned off as well) so I believe that I should be able to access it.

Probably it is the computer itself that does not allow any access to itself, although I shared a couple of folders over LAN with no issues. The other thing is the router itself, but my settings there are very limited, and I don't want to mess up something with my "perfect" network right now.

I assigned an inside DNS for that machine but of no use. I still get to

"Access forbidden!

New XAMPP security concept:

Access to the requested directory is only available from the local network.

This setting can be configured in the file "httpd-xampp.conf".

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
Error 403

Apache/2.2.17 (Win32) mod_ssl/2.2.17 OpenSSL/0.9.8o PHP/5.3.4 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1 "

Truly, I want to access wordpress not XAMPP.

I was wondering if sharing the folder xampp in C: would help. What do you think?

Thank you for the link.

As for it:
Entering the IP and then WP works but the website does not show properly (only text without any pictures)(the links also refuse to work because when clicked they throw me in localhost/wordpress .... whatever... instead of the IP and WP)
