XAMPP 1.7.5-Beta1 is now ready for testing and can be downloaded from here:
http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-beta.html

Note that this is now vc9 compiled where previous version were vc6 - this has been requested by many people in the past.

If you have any issues you would like to bring to the attention of the developers then use the form on the above beta web page not here in these forums.

The developers would appreciate as many people as possible to give these beta versions a thorough work out, which helps to create a good quality and stable final release - this was not evident in the last 1.7.4 final release as many of you have already found out.

Good luck with the testing.

Ok, I understand the difference is in the vc++ compiler version - vc6 or vc9.
Will the distribution (XAMPP) account for this difference or will I have to download any
other supporting .exe,.dlls, .ini, or other files?

I read what was at the link, but it was completely clear to me whether I had
to take additional steps to get the beta version installed and running.

thank you

chuck

Did you compile Apache yourself or did you use an alternative binary?
