Transferring XAMPP to a new computer

Postby montreal13 » 19. March 2011 02:17

Have been using XAMPP with wordpress to design my blog offline. It was working great until I moved to a new computer. I installed XAMPP on the new computer and copied all files from htdocs and phpmysql. XAMPP seems to run fine but nothing displays in my browser when I go to localhost/wordpress. No error message - just a blank window with "Done" in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. Any suggestions of what I am missing?

What version of XAMPP did you install on the new PC?
Was it the same version you had on your old PC?
What is phpmysql?
Any clues in the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file?

When Apache and MySQL are displaying a green running indication in the XAMPP Control Panel, can you access the orange Welcome Demo Page from these URIs:
http://localhost
http://localhost/xampp/index.php
http://127.0.0.1
http://127.0.0.1/xampp/index.php
http://localhost/phpmyadmin
http://127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin

I have tried it with the latest version 1.7.4, and with 1.7.3, which is what I had on the old computer, both behave the same way. Sorry, I should have said mysql instead of phpmysql. The error log does not seem to show problems, basically just indicates what ports it is listening on (443 and 80). The XAMPP control panel seems to behave normally too.
