Cannot access domain from computers

Hi all,
Should be a relatively quick question here. I was running XAMPP last month on my laptop for a website (domain registered with Godaddy) fine. Because I am on a dyanmic IP, I would always have to find out my IP, copy and paste it into the DNS Manager in GoDaddy's control panel under "@" Host. I could access the webpage under the domain name anywhere as long as my Apache XAMMP was running on my laptop.

I didn't touch it for a while but decided to get the website up and running again. I am following the same steps but am getting a "The connection has timed out" when I type the URL into firefox. I uninstalled/reinstalled XAMPP and re-copied the htdocs folder. I don't believe I have made any modifications to anything else in my computer besides that, but who knows.

http://127.0.0.1/ and http://localhost/ all point to the correct index.html home page.

Any ideas?!

Does http://localhost/xampp/index.php take you to the orange XAMPP Welcome page?

Private message me your domain name and associated IP if you feel it a security risk to post it here and I will do some checks from my PC via the Internet.

Hi Sharley:
Thanks for reaching out. Yes, the link you showed me takes me to the XAMPP page.

When I close my apache, it's weird I can still access localhost and it shows the page correctly. . I'm thinking I may not have configured the nameservers for Godaddy (although I don't think this is necessary if I am hosting server on my computer)...

Any ideas?

GoDaddy provides the DNS - nameservers - for the IP and domain you specify so that is not an issue and XAMPP appears to be working correctly.

See my PM reply, then if you find the suspected ISP issue you can respond in this forum.

Add your IP or domain name to the text box and tick all the boxes at this address to see where the blockage might be.

Make sure the IP listed for your domain name in the above results matches the current domain from your ISP.

Best wishes.

Just giving closure to this topic for others who may be interested or who may have a similar issue.

According to a PM reply from jmix (Justin) the problem has been solved - a port forwarding issue seems to have been the cause.
