What happened to XAMPPlite

Postby rbatz » 09. March 2011 11:48

I have been using XAMPPlite in my university web courses because of its portability and it s ability to run under Win 7 without being installed as a service. This has made it possible for my student to use USB drives to develop their prototypes at home and bring them to school to demo them. However, I noticed that this product is no longer available. Is there a way to install and use the XAMPP zip version as portable as the XAMPPlite?

Sure, download the zip version and extract to the root drive or partition of your portable device.

Don't run the setup bat file and your good to go.

Read the \xampp\readme_en.txt file for the above details.

BTW except for 1.7.4 lite, which is not yet released, all XAMPP versions are available from the file archive here:

Hello,

I realized that XAMPP lite 1.7.4 for Windows has not been released for a while now. Will there be a XAMPP lite in future releases? I apprechiated the lite version very much to use on my portable USB stick.

It looks like XAMPP for Windows 1.7.5 lite versions are ready to go.

Download from the file repository here which was updated with the new file 2 hours ago:
