Postby goldy » 09. March 2011 07:07

When I click the XAMPP control panel from desktop this is the error I get.
******************************************************************************************
XAMPP Component Status Check failure [1951166712]
Current Directory: c:\xampp
Run this program only from your XAMPP root directory
******************************************************************************************
I disable the UAC before installation and the install was clean and no error but after it asked to launch the control panel that error accrued.
I have Skype which does not use port 80 I disabled that
Windows Vista 64bit
Virus Program: Microsoft Security Essential, Kaspersky, Malewarebyted
When I save a php file in the HTDOC it does not load in the browser it asks for to save from IE 8
Please help me resolve this issue

Uninstall the installer exe version, download and extract the zip version then run the setup_xampp.bat file.

You can extract it where you like as long as it is in the root of a drive or partition.
See the \xampp\readme_en.txt file for the instructions and on the XAMPP for Windows home page.

Definitely not - check the downloaded zip file for viruses as normal.

The same link I posted above will explain what has already been achieved with this error message.

Unrelated issue and off topic in here but read the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file for clues why Apache can't start and this issue has been covered many many times and may well be the most popular topic in these forums with muliple solutions.

Best wishes.
