What file containd the MySQL variable lower_case_table_names

Which file contains the MySQL variable lower_case_table_name. I need to change it value so I can use uppercase names. I am using XXAMP version 1.7.3 on a WinXP.

None of the links I clicked on tells me what file the variable is located in or should be added to.

On my previous version ox XXAMP it was located in ...\XAMPP\mysql\bin\my.cnf. That file does not exist in the new version I downloaded. Also the text lower_case_table_names was not found in any files at all.
