php script is pausing on command prompt

Hi. I am using xampp basic package 1.7.3. I am running a php script on command prompt that loops through all the files in a folder on the local files system and performs certain tasks with the files. The problem is that sometimes this script just pauses and waits for someone to press enter a few times before resuming. Would anyone know why this is happening sometimes and other times it works fine? Thanks.
