Apache won't start

Postby Beowolf » 14. February 2004 00:06

XAMPP has been working for a long while now, but every once in a while I will get this error while trying to start apache, and it won't work:

Only one usage of each socket addres (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. : make_sock : could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 No listening sockets available, shutting down
una le to open logs

What does this mean? :?:

apache uses (without ssl) port 80. maybe there is an other webserver running, an other programm that uses this port, or your firewall is blocking the port ...

I didn't have any other programs running when I tried it just now, and I would think it would not be a firewall/anti-virus program because it usually works, just every once in a while it will display this error.

You'll sometimes get this message if you are running a P2P program, such as kazaa, when you try to start apache.
