MySQL error with Phoca Maps under XAMPP

Postby yourlocalsheriff » 26. October 2010 01:23

I have installed XAMPP 1.7.1. for Windows (XP SP3), running Joomla 1.5.21 and everything works fine - EXCEPT Phoca Maps:

I have installed and
When I go to the Component Control Panel and click on Maps, I get this error:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in c:\xampp\htdocs\libraries\joomla\database\database\mysql.php on line 344

I cannot create a Map. I have seen this error in another posting on a different topic, but no one has replied.

I have no problems with the rest of the installation.
Can somebody please help me sort this out, as it is becoming urgent?
Thank you in advance.

This is not a xampp issue but a Phoca Maps issue.
I recommend you to post this question on a Photo Maps related support forum.

this is how i solved it
1. uninstalled phocamaps in joomla
2. edited the joomla component, unzip using winzip or winrar or any archiving tool.
3 search for install.bak and open it using notepad or notepad++ if applicable
4. in notepad, click view then "replace"
replace all "#__" with jos_ (since jos_ is my default pre name in mysql.)
====to avoid confusion pls check your joomla php settings.
---- Help > System Info >> Configuration File >>> search for "$dbprefix"

5. once you have your dbprefix, in notepad, replace "#__" with your dbprefix. and save!
6. save all settings without altering any of the names
7. Finally repack the component, using any archiving tool. remember to make the file extension .zip or else it won't work.

8. lastly, reinstall the component in joomla. and then you're done.

another method is this.

This is how i solved it:
1. open my folder \administrator\components\com_phocamaps
2. Local "install.back" and open in notepad
3. All tables name will be like- #__phocamaps_map
4. In notepad i did a "edit --> Replace"
I replaced #__ with jos_ (jos is my default pre name in mysql)
Be aware that the # has 2 underscore so replace that with jos with one underscore

5. I then saved it the file on my desktop as "install.sql". type the "" as well when saving so it change the extension from .bak to .sql

6. Now open your sql editor /phpmyadmin. Highlight the database for your joomla site.
7. Locate the script on your desktop and execute it
It should say "Import has been successfully finished, 4 queries executed."

8 It now works for me

Remember "#__" >>> # _ _ (2 underscores)

Correct is "find #__ and replace with jos_"

Hay Friend I have wasted my hours and finally got the solution of joomla database error not working in xaaamp.

I get a real charge out of reading these forums and find that answers are given from people who dont even know how to spell Joomla! correctly let alone know how to work with it.

Regardless of what wole is saying, rather I have NO idea what he is saying? geethupendra is correct and what you need to do is change the following line in the php.ini file:

Line 516: error_reporting = E_ALL | E_STRICT

Line 516: error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_DEPRECATED

Save that and restart Apache and you should be good to go with installing and working with Joomla! on XAMPP 1.7.4
