XAMPP on USB

Postby les.courcy » 21. October 2010 18:43

I am pretty new at this. I'm trying to learn PHP, so I downloaded XAMPP on my home computer and my flash drive. At home, access through http://localhost/--- works great, but I can't seem to find the address to connect to the USB. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, les.courcy

1st - You can'r really RUN both simultaneously on the same machine - they can be installed - but running them at the same time requires a very advanced knowledge and a lot of workarounds - fixes. Short answer - don't do it.

To easily work with the thumb drive - You need to make a shoertcut for the XAMPP Control Panel on the thumbdrive on your desktop.

They will BOTH have the same address -- http://localhost --(as they are a webserver running on the loopback address of whatever machine they are on)

Good luck
:)

Thanks for the help. I'm at school and I think my problem now might be the computer here. I put in http://localhost/guestbook.html and all I get is Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. I'll go try somewhere else a little later. Thanks again, les.courcy
