xampp and mercury

Hello guys,

i am building a site (joomla! powered) so i am trying to set up a test enviroment for sending and receiving mails. I checked all the web (there are even videos on youtube). Everyone says it's simple and everyone seems to have this enviroment working.

I setup stmp and pop (both client and server) in mercury as showed everywhere (i.e. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU4PT7xMSO0). I setup an account in Windowsmail. What i try is send 1 mail from the created user (say frank) to frank@localhost. I can just retrieve mails via imap (pop3 is not working) and i cant'send mail. I have an smtp problem. I khnow i gave really few informations, as i am back to home i will post details of the error.

Also make sure port 25 is open in firewall and router.
