Apache fails to start

I have recently installed XAMPP on Vista Home Edition with Norton 360 Firewall. Attempted to start Apache (enabled Port 80) still fails to start even if I disable Norton temporarily. Cscript.exe shows Apache Status of SYSTEM. What does this mean and how can I resolve this? I am a relative novice in this area.
