no configuration files

when I write this url: http://localhost/
it give me back a blank page, and only one information:
No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting...
this problem is started when I modified the "php.ini" file (xammp/php was the folder), in order to allow the use of the curl extension (I had just deleted ";" on the same line); the server is running: Joomla is working, the only problem is: I see no longer the Xampp panel. What's happened?
