Decompression bomb?

Postby Kerr » 11. September 2010 16:15

Hi all.

Recently my Apache stopped working, so I downloaded XAMPP again because I couldnt find the old installer. Since I am paranoid I scanned it with Avast, and it said some file in it was a decompression bomb (the file had something to do with MySQL). Think it is a false positive, since when I found the old installer and scanned it I got the same warning but I never had a problem after using it. But I like to be sure... do you guys think this is an actual problem?

Take care,
Kerr.

Ok, I decided to take a chance. I install it and did not get a single problem. My guess is that avast is just detecting a really, really compressed file, which shouldn´t be weird since it is a MySQL file we are talking about... or am I wrong?
