Tomcat add-on, how to start with JPDA_OPTS

Postby bercy46 » 09. September 2010 22:26

Hi,

I've coded a web service using Axis2. I installed Xampp for Windows, installed the Tomcat add-on. I can now start and stop Tomcat from the Xampp control panel.

I would like to debug this web service from within Eclipse.

Usually, this involves starting Tomcat with some environment variables, and then connecting to the JVM from within Eclipse's Debug configurations.

I tried setting my JPDA_OPTS environment variable to -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8000,server=y,suspend=n

I stopped and restarted Tomcat, and when I try to connect from eclipse, I get "Launching <debug configuration> has encountered a problem. Failed to connect to remove VM. Connection refused".

I know remote debugging works because I've used it against a Linux Tomcat installation...

I just don't know where to set the environment variables in the Windows version so that starting tomcat from the Xampp control panel will use them.

Thanks.
