Beta 2 for Windows Problem

I D/L'd Beta 2 for Windows. I run Windows 7 Home Premium. I installed and I have the control console up. When I click apache admin I get the panel. Click Status and I see that all programs are installed. BUT when I click MySql admin NOTHING happens. If I go to my browser and type HTTP://localhost/phpmyadmin I get the requester window:

user: some sort of gibbersh
P/W: I set it to "secret"

When I replace the gibberish with root and enter my p/w I get mysql

In xampp 1.7.3 this all worked fine.

Am I doing something wrong in this beta???

Apache Friends Beta 2 for windows released yesterday

You are supposed to post problems with the Beta releases by using the FORM ON THE BETA PAGE...
