Unable to start Apache service on 2008R2 server with IIS7

I installed XAMP to a 2008R2 server with IIS7 and am unable to get the Apache service to start. I have it installed to the programfiles(x86) directory and the MySQL service starts just fine.
error as listed in the event viewer is:
service-specific error code 1
HELP
