I have installed xampp on my computer and when I click the status link in the menu it says that everything is activated except for ipv6??? I have been through the search process and cannot seem to find an answer anywhere that applies to my situation. I am running XP and can only find solutions for vista which do not work. Please help me as I have other huge problems to solve with dreamweaver and opencart :(
Thank you in advance and when I do wrap my head around all this I will certainly contribute some tutorials.

Best-

Sully

Bingo - the ninja geek strikes :D

You are on WHAT OS?

THIMK! Was IPv6 around much when XP was designed?

NOPE! So by default, no direct support in XP (Vista & Win 7 == Yes) Look in properties on your NIC... No Place to configure IPv6! The IPv6 specification was only formally adopted in 1998.

Google "IPv6 support in XP"

Good Luck
(now where is my Magic Wand smiley?)

I should add - this is untested server geek speculation, but I think when you configure the stack -- XAMMP will recognize it.
BUT I AM sure that is why it is NOT ON now. (if I have time after finishing server fixes for a client I will give it a whirl later this week myself.)

Thank you. I really wouldn't know things like that. I like XP and cannot afford to change OS right now:-( This is all a bit Greek to me so I apologize for my ignorance. What will the consequence be if I just leave it as is for now because I have other huge problems to deal with trying to get OpenCart and Dreamweaver to dance with XAMPP and Arvixe hosting.
Thanks Again.

No consequences whatever under normal circumstances, basically IPv6 is the next generation of IP addressing schemes.

Put it out of your mind for a good long time and enjoy yourself working on your projects.
