XAMPP 1.7.4 or 1.7.3b for Windows?

Postby Slipaway » 07. July 2010 10:22

Would it be possible to create an updated XAMPP 1.7.4 (or 1.7.3b) for Windows?

with the latest:
Apache 2.2.15
PHP 5.3.2
MySQL 5.1.48
PHPMyAdmin 3.3.4

and also add the following to the XAMPP 1.7.4 package for Windows?
APC 3.1.3p1,
eAccelerator 1.0svn412
MemCached 1.2.1.0

It would be really nice having both APC 3.1.3p1 (Alternative PHP Cache) and MemCached 1.2.1.0 added to the XAMPP 1.7.4 package for Windows, and also have APC and MemCached added to the XAMPP Control Panel.

I'd suggest posting these as feature request on the bug tracker.

Re: Alternative PHP Cache (APC)

Was there any movement on adding Alternative PHP Cache (APC) to XAMPP for Windows?

This would be extremely helpful. Adding APC to a Windows XAMPP installation is incredibly painful (perhaps unnecessarily so) in terms of compiling the needed DLL.

EDIT: APC is already included in XAMPP -- but turned off (commented out of the PHP.INI). Discovered this after a lot of hair pulling and work. Oh well-- learn from my stupidity if you run a search first (like I did).

I'm curious as to why APC version 3.1.3p1 is the only version that will work with XAMPP. Is there something different about the current version of APC (version 3.1.6) or was the version included in XAMPP compiled in some unique way?

Yeah I'd also like to know. It's probably something I don't fully understand about compiling on windows.

All of my attempts to upgrade the APC dll result in an error "The specified procedure could not be found".

Can anyone shine some light onto this? Even if just to say "impossible".

Thanks.

I have found solution for me.
I have downloaded php_apc.dll library from here http://downloads.php.net/pierre/php_apc ... c6-x86.zip, copied it into ext folder and added to php.ini. Then I have restarted Apache and it works.
