Upgrade PHP or XAMPP Windows beta

Postby DavidCG » 31. May 2010 18:30

Hi,

I need to upgrade PHP to 5.3.2 to fix the bug that prevents Mediawiki from running. Instructions for this are here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=39655&start=0#p157611

However, those instructions break XAMPP for other other applications because it disables PHP drivers for PDO, etc. Are there instructions for upgrading PHP that does not break it?

Or is there a beta version of XAMPP somewhere that fixes this? The beta page - http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-beta.html - does not contain a Windows version.

TIA.

you should read the actual bug report:

http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=50394

it appears there is a patch for this issue.

good luck

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I did find the bug report and the patch - but could find no instructions on how to apply the patch on a Windows box. I believe it requires a patch.exe which is not included in XAMPP???

Truthfully, that level is beyond my expertise.

I think it applies the patch using Xdebug. Best to get help on an expert PHP forum.

Thanks again.

I've just read all of the patch and it appears to have many French-specific settings listed, so I'm not going to try and use it - even if I could find out how to apply it.

For anyone who does want to try that patch, these instructions might help: http://drupal.org/node/14231
