Hi

Have just installed latest version (1.7.3) and have noticed that when running xampp via xampp_start.exe that there is no icon in taskbar, I get the 'black' box open and then disappears after a few seconds (or do I have to start xampp via the xampp_cli.exe instead now) ?

Can someone please advise if when running prog if there should still be an icon in windows taskbar as there used to be for earlier version ?

I have also tried running the mysql_upgrade (as have databases from older xampp version) but have no idea if works as I get a 'black' box open and close so quickly I do not have time to read what it says in the box.

If it helps am using Windows 7 64bit

Any advice appreciated

Just to let you all know

Had to go back to earlier version of Xampp as newer version caused me endless issues (web pages were even taking longer to load)

Hope that I can continue to use older version for some time now as will not look forward to upgrading if going to cause me the amount of issues I had

I tried that as well

even tried with firewall disabled but still no different

am afraid to even attempt to install and run the new xampp as have the older version running perfectly and spent a lot of time before trying to get new version to work without success so may just stay with the older version until such time as have to install newer version

I found a work around that works, it was driving me nuts. I'm running Windows 10 -64 bit.

1. Create a shortcut in the program folder where XAMPP lives, that is for "xampp-color.exe."
2. Right click on the shortcut and select properties.
3. Click on the change icon tab. I have two displayed in the new pop up and selected the bottom one.
4.Drag the shortcut to the task bar.

The missing icon only happens on my work machine the home one is fine, go figure.

Don't accidently delete the xampp-control.exe file like I did.
