problem with .htaccess

Postby jbaltrus » 12. May 2010 21:25

I have just installed newest version of xampp and I think I messed up something. I tried to open php and it would open as a text, so I did:

Open text editor and type:
RemoveHandler .htm. .htm
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .htm .html
-Save the file as .htaccess (note the dot) and place in /opt/lampp/htdocs.

then I tried to start lampp and now window opens where it says

you have chosen to open
which is a: application/x-httpd
from http://localhost

I have deleted that .htaccess file from /opt/lampp/htdocs but it wouldn't go away now. So my question is:

how do I revert back so I can open localhost normally AND php would work without showing plain text?

thanks

This is the "XAMPP for Windows" forum, not the "XAMPP for Linux" forum. That's here.
