i have searched the forums and did not see a solution to this problem (sorry if there is one)

i have had issues with .htaccess running on xampp for awhile now(a few versions) it always gives a 500 error

i recently had to rename about 7 or so .htaccess file names so i could run a script.(i rename them so they are still there)

i would like to know how to get them to work and why they maybe giving an error.
what can i do to try and solve this problem, what steps to track down the problem and fix it please.

Please post a .htaccess File.
Have a look at the error-Log File of the Apache-Server. Are there any entries because of the .htaccess Files?
