Ihave Joomla_1.5.15 and followed its quick start guide to set up the XAMPP server on my PC.
First problem - the link for XAMPP ( apachefriends.org) has no version 1.6.4.

Instead I got xampp-win32-1.7.3 .

Did install it on my PC (running on WindowsXP Pro) and surprise & problem appeared - the installation is done by command line and the control panel window that finally appears differs from what the Joomla’s quick start guide displays.

There are no options to set and adjust by a person who has no knowledge of command lines-way .
The only thing I managed is to start modules SVC apache and MySQL

On XAMPP site instructions are hard to understand- very techno - I am just an ordinary computer user.

My question :
Is there someone experienced who can tell me step-by step how to install and set this XAMPP1.7.3 server on my PC, please?

Maybe the Joomla's quick start guide is simply outdated?!

Yes it is outdated but there is no new one...


And my question remains:
