Hi,
I've no such problem and all seems ok from XAMPP point of view.
I use win-XP with last patch SP3. no special installation in my computer. Not sure what kind of editor request as your mention.

You need winRAR to extract the file.

Thats not correct.

The installer version of xampp has its own selfextractor. No zip program needed.

The zip version needs a zip program (Windows Vista and Windows 7 already have a zip program included).
You don't need exactly WinRAR if your Windows don't has a zip program (WinRAR is Shareware, there are other really good freeware solutions like 7zip or IZArc)

7-Zip is pretty useful; Win-RAR only allows a free trial for 30 days.

its not about the setup or installer actually.
i just want to know whether any setting of configuration that need to do. :?:
actually i've a project that contains the upload and download function. before this, when i run the project with older version of xampp, the function run successful.
the problem is, when using xampp 1.7.3, the file upload and download successfully but the downloaded file cannot be opened .
